Despite providing a full emergency cover for all species we depend on having the 'core' of our large animal working day based upon appointments.
TB Testing (approximately 280 per year) appointments are regularly booked 4-6 weeks in advance for herds, with smaller pre movement tests being 'slotted' in as necessary depending on their size. This frequently will create Veterinary allocation for at least 4 days of the normal working week. Subsequently, routine jobs such as castration and dehorning are appointed to non 'TB days'.
We wish to encourage the use of the Practice cattle facilities and appointments for foot trimming, castration, dehorning and fertility can all be made with sufficient notice to improve both Veterinary efficiency and prevent 'on farm' waiting time for farmers.
